Gratings & Flooring
|
Set up by the Arts Council of Great Britain, the Serpentine Gallery annually commissions internationally renowned architects to design a pavilion on the Gallery lawn. One such pavilion was constructed using Gratings and Flooring from F H Brundle. It was co-designed by Pritzker Prize winning architect Rem Koolhaas and innovative structural designer Cecil Balmond. The centrepiece was a spectacular ovoid-shaped inflatable canopy that floated above the Gallery's lawn. Cecil Balmond said: "These pavilions have evolved with various structural typologies and materials, provoking a debate on architecture; this year the exploration continues not only with typology and material but with the very definition of Pavilion." Gratings and flooring from F H Brundle complemented the design and maintained its architectural integrity.
Industrial gratings have many different applications, which combine great strength with a light structure and good non-slip properties, they are ideal for use on platforms, galleries, gangways and storage floors etc.
Durbar sheets are used where their raised pattern feature forms a non-slip surface in any direction, and where their excellent draining characteristics are required. As a result, Durbar sheets can be used as a structural component for vehicle flooring, walkways and bridges.
Tactile Flooring is a 4mm thick GRP tile incorporating raised profiles, designed to warn people when they are approaching a change in elevation such as railway platforms, pedestrian crossings, staircase assent and decent areas, as well as many other applications. It is available in three different surfaces, "On Street Blister, Off Street Blister and Corduroy". We also stock DDA and Building Regulation compliant Fibre Step Tread Covers and Nosing. |
