Paints for Metalwork | Primers

To give the best possible protection from rust it is important to prepare the work well prior to painting. It is imperative that all work is cleaned off and prepared correctly. Work should always be free from mill scale, rust, dirt, oil, grease and it should be thoroughly dry. For best results mild steel surfaces should be blast-cleaned or wire brushed thoroughly before painting. This will help adhesion and give a longer life before any maintenance is required. Using primer will help protect your overcoat, both choices of primer are hard-wearing and are suitable for many coverage applications.

Our anti-rust oxide primers can be used on clean or slightly rusted metal, they are quick-drying and can be overcoated with most paints. We also have brushable ZP primers which are designed for priming under our brushable enamels.
