Gabions, Warmagrip & Tube Clamps and Tube Case Study
Military precision was required when the Royal Engineers were involved in replacing old RAF accommodation blocks on three hilltop sites in the Falkland Islands. These isolated locations demanded that any product and building material used were capable of withstanding extreme weather conditions and freezing temperatures
F.H. Brundle supplied a large quantity of gabions, Warmagrip and galvanised tube clamps and tubes to what is certainly one of the most remote locations our products have ever been installed in.
Gabions are wire structures similar to large baskets which can be filled with materials such as stone, concrete, sand or soil, and offer the most cost-effective and rapidly installed solution for retaining wall systems. They are suitable for indoors as well as outdoors and are used in many applications including landscaping to stabilise earth movement. They also provide automatic and easy drainage, making them a suitable environment for the growth of plant roots. Thanks to their high resistance to atmospheric corrosion, gabions are also ideal as sea walls and riverbank defences, gravity retaining walls, fencing applications and much more.
Our welded mesh gabion baskets are available as flat packs with a 3 x 3” mesh and are made of 3mm galvanised steel wire to keep their shape. They come in a variety of sizes from 0.5m square through to our largest at 2 x 1 x 1m. Suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications, they’re strong, durable, and manufactured from environmentally friendly recycled materials.
Warmagrip™ is our "warm to the touch" hand railing component system that meets the DDA obligations, Part "M" of the Building Regulations. The components of this high-quality PVC coated handrailing system ensure minimum heat conductivity away from the hand and removes the need for the additional expense of thermal painting or powder coating. The system is designed for ease of construction to meet site specific requirements, needing no adhesive and allowing for quick and easy installation.
Available in three options:
This option is based on the supply of standard PVC coated fittings and long lengths of GRP tube that can be cut down on site to suit varying post centres. The fittings are then glued to the steel core of the handrail fittings.
This option is based on the supply of standard PVC coated fittings and standard pre-cut lengths of PVC coated tube. The system is bolted together using special security fixings.
This option is based on the supply of standard PVC coated steel fittings and standard lengths of pre-drilled PVC coated tube. The system is bolted together using special security fixings.
Our comprehensive range of tube clamp fittings is manufactured with simplicity and ease of use in mind. With no welding, bending, threading or special skills, requiring just an Allen key or ratchet key to tighten grub screws and join galvanised tubes in a matter of seconds, allowing tube clamp fittings to be used in a wide variety of commercial, domestic and temporary or permanent applications.
