When correctly installed to manufacturer recommendations with appropriate post spacings and grub screw torque, a 42.4mm OD tube clamp handrail system comfortably meets the 0.74 kN/m horizontal line load requirement for commercial handrails specified in BS 6180 and Approved Document K (now incorporated into Approved Document M). For higher-duty applications such as crowd-barrier or industrial safety guardrails, shorter post spacings and the use of 48.3mm OD tube are recommended.
