Why choose composite decking?

Our products have excellent UV resistance and will not rot or splinter, they are anti-slip and flammability tested, and offer workability similar to wood.

Rinato composite deck boards are easy to install and look fantastic. As well as being environmentally friendly, our composite decking is virtually maintenance free, incredibly durable and will remain so for years to come. Experience the beauty of wood without the hassle.

Unlike first-generation boards, which can split, fade and absorb moisture, Rinato Natural boards feature a 360 degree wrap-around, second-generation polymer Capstock shield, that encapsulates the hollow core deck board and gives it year-round protection against the elements and harmful UV rays, making it suitable for a variety of outdoor uses. This high-grade PVC cap or skin, also gives a high level of protection against staining, scratching, rot, and an increased resistance to mould growth. It requires only an occasional wash down with soapy water to keep it looking like new.

These naturally enhanced woodgrain boards are double-sided and boast dual colouring with a hollow core – allowing the boards to be laid at (maximum) 400mm centres.

FSC® certified Natural Capstock composite deck boards are made from a combination of 60% recycled wood and 40% recycled polypropylene, making it a ‘greener’ option for your garden than most other composite decking boards.

Second-generation Capstock composite decking boards offer a significant leap forward in terms of aesthetics, durability, and maintenance compared to their first-generation counterparts:

Enhanced Aesthetics:

Realistic Wood Look: Second-generation boards feature advanced manufacturing techniques, including varied colours and grain patterns, that more closely mimic the look of natural wood.

Better Color Retention: Engineered with improved UV inhibitors, leading to significantly better fade resistance over time. The colour you choose is more likely to remain for many years.

Superior Durability:

Capped or Shielded Technology: A key feature of many second-generation boards is a protective outer layer (cap or shield). This layer provides enhanced resistance to:

Staining: Spills are less likely to penetrate and leave permanent marks.

Scratching and Denting: The hard outer layer offers better protection against everyday wear and tear.

Moisture Damage: The cap significantly reduces water absorption, preventing rot, mold, and mildew growth.

Insect Infestation: The plastic components are impervious to wood-boring insects.

Greater Structural Integrity: Second-generation boards feature improved core designs for increased strength and resistance to warping or bending.

Reduced Maintenance:

Ultra-Low Maintenance: The capped layer makes these boards virtually maintenance-free compared to wood. You won’t need to sand, stain, or seal them.

Easy Cleaning: Most spills and dirt can be easily cleaned with soap and water or a mild household cleaner.

Resistance to Mold and Mildew: The reduced water absorption inhibits the growth of mold and mildew, minimising the need for specialised cleaning.

Other Advantages:

Eco-Friendly: Made with recycled plastic and wood fibres, making them a sustainable choice.

Increased Safety: They are splinter-free and have enhanced slip resistance, making them safer for families with children and pets.

Potentially Higher Property Value: A long-lasting, attractive, and low-maintenance deck can be a significant selling point for your home.

Select your fixings

Rinato Natural composite decking boards can be attached to most subframes using the complimentary fixing clips. Our stainless steel double fixing clip allows you to perfectly space boards with a minimal 1mm gap, whilst the more cost-effective nylon fixing clips provide spacing at 7mm between each board. We recommend 10 starter clips per starter board and 9 double clips per regular board.

FAQs

How do the hidden fixing clips work, and what gap do they create?2026-06-03T11:41:31+01:00

The boards feature a grooved edge profile designed to accept F.H.Brundle’s hidden fixing clips, ensuring a clean surface free of exposed screw heads. Stainless Steel Clips automatically lock in a sleek, architectural 1mm to 2mm gap between the boards.

How do the dual-colour, reversible boards benefit the installation?2026-06-03T11:36:03+01:00

Every Rinato Natural board is manufactured with a different complementary tone on each side (such as Teak on one side and Walnut on the other). For consumers, this offers excellent design flexibility. For installers, it drastically reduces material waste—you can use one face for the main deck body and simply flip the remaining offcuts over to create contrasting borders, fascia trim, or striking step treads without ordering separate products.

Will the colours fade or change over time in direct sunlight?2026-06-03T11:34:43+01:00

Unlike first-generation uncapped composite decking which bleaches dramatically, Rinato Natural features an advanced polymer shield packed with UV stabilizers. You will experience a very minor, natural settling of the gloss level over the first 8 to 12 weeks as the factory processing oils wash away. After this brief period, the colour locks in permanently and will resist fading for decades.

How slip-resistant is the surface during wet British winters?2026-06-03T11:35:29+01:00

It is exceptionally safe. Rinato Natural is engineered with a deeply embossed, high-traction wood-grain texture. It undergoes rigorous UK pendulum testing (BS 7976-2) and achieves a “low slip potential” rating in both wet and dry conditions. Because the polymer cap absorbs virtually zero moisture, it denies green algae the damp environment it needs to grow, eliminating the primary cause of dangerously slick timber decks.

What is the maximum joist spacing required for installing Rinato composite decking boards?2026-06-03T11:32:40+01:00

For standard residential installations, the maximum recommended joist spacing is 400mm centres when the boards are laid perpendicular (at 90 degrees) to the joists. If you are installing the decking diagonally at a 45-degree angle, you must reduce the joist spacing to 300mm centres to prevent any structural flexing and ensure a completely rigid finish.
