Every project starts with an idea. But turning that idea into reality takes the right tools, the right materials and the right support backing you.
When Pete and Hayley reached out to us about their off-grid camper conversion, we knew it was more than just a supply order. It was a chance to support something special. Based in the south of the UK, Pete and Hayley are the duo behind Road to Off Grid, a growing YouTube channel documenting their journey to full time off-grid living and self-sufficiency. Starting from scratch, they rescued a 1990s Mercedes horse truck from a scrap yard and are now converting it into a fully functioning, self-built motorhome. They are building everything themselves, from the frame to the finishes, learning along the way and sharing every challenge and success with their audience.
One of their initial tasks? Designing and building custom storage boxes for the truck. After that, they will dive into the toughest part: constructing the insulated, aluminium-framed habitat that will become their new home.
We were more than happy to get involved and supply a few essential materials to kick off their build:
What makes this story a little different is that not everything came off the shelf. For example, we arranged a custom aluminium sheet order to suit their exact requirements to match their vision. Here’s everything they have accomplished so far.
Over the last 136 years, we have been lucky to work with tradespeople, fabricators, designers and self-builders across the UK every day. And whilst we supply over 13,000 products, what truly matters to us is what those products go on to build.
Pete and Hayley’s journey is one of resilience, resourcefulness and genuine passion. We are proud to be part of it.
And if you are working on a project of your own, no matter how big, small or offbeat, we are here to help.
