Treated softwood deck boards
For use with Outdure QwickBuild framing
Timber or softwood deck boards may not be the most desirable or premium of deck surfaces, but there’s a reason that so many installations continue to opt for treated timber boards, and that is their cost. By far the most affordable way to surface a deck.
If installed correctly and maintained, treated softwood decking can last for around 10 years or so without having to be replaced – selecting a quality treated board and coating is essential for a long-lasting deck. Our UC3 treated boards are a premium quality, solid, double-sided board, grooved on one side and smooth on the reverse. Each board is pressure-treated for longer, giving them extra durability and greater resistance against rot. Made from responsibly sourced wood.
Outdure QwickBuild is designed to work with any surface, including treated softwood boards. Below goes into more detail on how you can use softwood boards on the revolutionary framing system.

Fixing softwood boards
Option A
Screw direct to joist (recommended).
Fix boards to the flat face of the QwickBuild® joists by drilling either the A610 or A620 self-drilling screw through the top of the board into the supporting aluminium joist. Use two screws at each intersection with a joist – as shown below. Use A206 double bracket where needed.

Option B
Screw into A855 polymer batten
If requiring a solution where the timber board is not interacting with the aluminium joist (for reduced noise for instance), attach the A855 polymer batten to the channelled side of the supporting bearer with an A630 screw, and use as a joist (as shown in diagram below). This can only be used in ultra-low level deck installations. Batten can also be used in a more traditional bearer and joist frame system when applied atop a joist.

Innovation in every component
Build using a selection of core system components such as joists and brackets, which form the structure, along with fixings for your chosen surface(s). The range also includes supports, such as posts or pedestals, depending on the height of the deck and the substrate on which it will sit. Combined with all the components required for you to install your treated softwood deck boards on our aluminium QwickBuild deck frame system.
