FAQ

Does stainless steel ever need cleaning?
Whilst stainless steel is very durable and corrosion resistant, it is not self-cleaning and will require regular maintenance. Cleaning intervals will depend on location and the local environment. They may be from 4 times a year in rural, suburban or residential areas where the stainless steel is washed by rain, and up to weekly where is isnt washed by rain and is in industrial areas or close to the sea. We sell cleaning products and cloths in our range.
Do you supply glass infills?
We do supply glass infills for all our systems and have a very large range of stock glass panels for all our post, aluminium channel and spigot systems, in both toughened and PVB laminates.
My stainless is dirty or stained - is it going rusty?
This is known as 'Tea Staining' and mainly occurs within 5 kms of the sea or salt water. It becomes progressively worse the closer to the marine source. Howver, wind exposure, industrial pollution levels and higher temperatures can congregate environments where 'tea staining' might occur 20 kms from the sea. The staining does not affect the structural integrity or the longevity of the material and it can be controlled.
How can I stop or treat 'Tea staining'?
We now offer Pro-Railing Protect a brand new system with nanotechnology that protects the surface and stops the build up of pollutants and slows the 'tea staining' from occuring. Available as wipes or a standard kit suitable for both glass and railings. If there is already staining then we offer Pro-Railing Protect refresher kits or a 3 part cleaning kit which contains Stainless cleaner, purifed water and a stainless polish (189900902) If there is heavy discolouration then they will need to use a pickling gel (18990094023) to remove this and then treat with the 3 part kit to ensure ongoing protection.
Is all stainless steel the same?
No, there several different types of stainless steel. The commonly used for these types of prod ucts are Grades 304 and 316. The chemical calculations are different in each. Grade 304 is generally used for internal applications and in areas which are not exposed to chemicals or extreme conditions. If you live within 20 miles of the coast, want a railing around your swimming pool, or live close to a city centre then we would always recommend using grade 316.mirror finish. We also offer a number of products on Grade 2205 stainless that is classed as 'Ultra marine' finish. Many people prefer to use 304 for internal rails and 316 for external ap plications. Grade 304 offers good value in appropriate locations.
