Bendy Steel

F.H.Brundle's 'Bendy Steel' Handrailing range (Stargard Flex) is a flexible, PVC-coated handrail system built around a galvanised steel tube core that can be shaped by hand to follow curves, changes in direction, and irregular angles without specialist bending equipment. The system is available in two outer diameters: 42.4mm (with a 33.7mm galvanised core) and 50mm (with a 42.4mm galvanised core), supplied in Signal Yellow (RAL 1003) and Anthracite Grey (RAL 7016) PVC coatings. Straight lengths are stocked in 3-metre and 6-metre sections; adjustable handrail sections are available in 1-metre lengths for tighter or more complex runs. Fixed return bends with 500mm legs, adjustable return bends, and 90-degree bends are all stocked in both diameters and both colours, allowing complete handrail runs to be finished without fabrication. Splice locks in bright zinc plated finish (33.7mm and 42.4mm) provide clean, secure internal joints between sections, and a dedicated PVC tube cutter handles clean cuts on site for tubes up to 50mm. To connect to DDA handrail fittings and posts, the outer PVC coating is stripped back at the joint to expose the galvanised core tube, creating a seamless mechanical connection with standard tube clamp and key clamp fittings. This system removes the need for costly site surveys and bespoke handrail fabrications. See how this system achieves this.

Bendy Steel is particularly suited to DDA-compliant handrailing on curved stairways, ramped access routes, and feature balustrades where fixed-radius bends would require costly fabrication. The system is stocked across F.H.Brundle's UK branch network with free expedited delivery on mainland orders over £150 ex VAT.
